A Growing Family …

August 31, 2010

You might recognize the two lovely girls in this set of photos from my previous session I did with them earlier this year.  Back in the spring, when Christina had just found out she was only a few weeks pregnant,  we got together out at Red Rock Canyon to get some fun photos with her little girl before their family grew.

Well fast forward a few months and here we are.  You’re not gonna believe me when I tell you that she is now TWO WEEKS FROM HER DUE DATE.

All of you who have had babies can join with me in saying ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!  I’m not kidding.  She is that beautiful with only a few days until baby comes!

Of course we had to get photos with her little girl again…

This time dad and brothers joined in on the fun, too.  Handsome group of guys, huh?!

And a Daddy/Daughter portrait to finish.  Awwwwwww.

Thanks for another great session, Christina (and family)!  SO looking forward to our newborn session — COMING VERY SOON!

Tom & Gina: SURPRISE Engagement in Las Vegas!

June 13, 2010

Oh this is such a great story!

Tom contacted me by email about a month ago when he found me through the WPPI website.  He told me of his plans to bring his girlfriend of 5 years to Vegas from southern California to propose to her, and he wanted a photographer to capture the whole thing for them.  The tricky part was, of course … she had no idea this was coming!

So for weeks Tom and I emailed back and forth making plans for the best time/place/way to pull off this great surprise.  He suggested the fountains in front of the Bellagio (so romantic!), and I thought that was a great idea.   Lots of planning and emailing back and forth ….  and last weekend, the day finally came!

Tom and I kept in touch via text messaging most of the day.  I knew when they landed in Vegas.  I knew when they were out walking the Strip.  I knew when they arrived at the Bellagio, and I knew when it was finally time for the big surprise!! It was so fun to be in on everything, knowing the whole time that his girlfriend had no idea this was coming.  I was so excited for both of them, I had butterflies all day!

When the time finally came, I staked out a good place behind a tree right in front of the Bellagio. Tom texted me to watch for the girl wearing a turquoise dress and he was wearing a red tshirt, and as soon as I saw them approaching the fountains, I knew that had to be them.  They were so cute together, and Tom was so funny.  We hadn’t met in person at this point, so as soon as he got to their viewing area, he nervously looked at me and we kind of nodded our heads at each other.  I felt like we were in a Bond movie or something! ha!

Then the 5:30 show started and I had snapped a few photos of them as they watched, without Gina suspecting a thing.

Then as soon as the song ended, I knew the big moment was about to come.  After all these weeks of prepping and anticipation, Tom finally got down on one knee and popped the question.  It was so romantic!

Gina was completely surprised, but of course she said yes, and the happy couple spent several minutes kissing and hugging and being so happy together. It almost made me cry!

Then I finally moved in and introduced myself.   Tom explained how I had been there the whole time taking photos, and we asked Gina if she’d be up for a quick engagement shoot before they got on the phone to call all their friends and family.

I just have to mention that Las Vegas has been unseasonably cool all spring, but as luck would have it… this was the hottest day of the year! We topped out at 108 that day, and it felt more like 198!  But Gina was such a great sport and they both were so happy to be celebrating their engagement, we spent about 45 minutes walking around in the heat, getting some photos to capture the feeling of the day.  Here are just a few of my favs:

I think this one is my very favorite from the session as it just sums up the feeling of the whole experience.  For the short time that we were together, it was so obvious to me that Tom adores Gina.  He kept squeezing her and hugging her and putting his head on her shoulder just like this through the whole shoot.  It was just too stinkin adorable!

Thank you, Tom, for trusting me with your special day.  I am so happy and honored that I got to be part of your big surprise.  And thank you, Gina, for being such a great sport and a beautiful model! You both are so cute together and I just know your future together is going to be a wonderful one.

Two beauties…

March 11, 2010

Christina’s husband contacted me a couple weeks back to book a photo session for his wife and little girl.  Isn’t that so sweet?? (Psst…. hey GUYS… I hope you’re reading this.   Take note that your wives will LOVE you if you book a session for them with the kids.  TRUST ME!)  I was really excited to meet with these two beautiful ladies up at Red Rock last weekend to get some great photos, and not surprisingly, we all had a lot of fun!

As I keep saying lately, there is something about moms and their kids that makes me so very happy.  I feel so blessed to get to work with families like this one.  The love was so thick between them, I could feel it even behind the camera.

Here are just a few of my favs from the session…

I just couldn’t get enough of this little girl!  She has such a fun personality and as you can see… she has so many different looks!  What a natural in front of the camera!

And of course we couldn’t end the session without a great photo of mom.  Isn’t she stunning?

Thanks for spending the morning with me, ladies!!   I hope you had as much fun as I did!

More Baby & Mommy Cuteness Ahead!

February 18, 2010

I can’t think of anything more fun than taking photos of cute little babies and their mommies … and how blessed I’ve been lately to get to spend some time doing just that!

My latest session was a lot of fun and packed with cuteness.  Just look at this face!!!!  Can you even believe how cute she is??!!!

Then it was time for some play time pictures with Mommy.  These two are so cute together.  I loved how her Mommy kept talking to her in the cutest little high-pitched baby voice.  It was really contagious, too!  I kept catching myself doing the same thing! Ha!

Check out this adorable little flower clip.  Her Mommy sells these and a ton of other super cute girly stuff online.  You should check out her site… especially if you’re looking for some cute things for your little girl to wear for pictures!

This one makes me smile every time I look at it …

And of course we couldn’t leave the doggy out of all the fun!

Thanks for looking!  Don’t forget to leave  me a comment to let me know what you think!

Mommy & Baby

February 12, 2010

You might remember this cute little guy from his photo session a couple weeks back.   I was so happy to get back together with his mom the next week so we could get some great Mommy & Baby portraits.

Poor little Brooks just wasn’t feeling like posing for pictures when I showed up at his house, so his parents were trying ANYTHING they could think of to calm him down and get him to go to sleep.  We tried white noise and rocking and feeding and pacifier-ing…nothing was working!  Til his daddy came in with his guitar and lulled him to sleep with some soft music.  It wasn’t really part of the session, but it was just such a precious family moment, I had to capture it.  Now tell me this isn’t so sweet….

And then came the real Mommy/Baby photos…  So very precious…..

You’ll never believe that he is actually her FIFTH child.  I know.  It’s just not fair that someone can have five kids and still be that beautiful!  And on top of that…she’s just as beautiful on the inside too!

I so love his rolls in this one…

Ahhh… so peaceful in Mommy’s arms…

Thanks for looking!
